Since we live in an apartment, I don't need to deal with problems that revolves around a garage. I don't have to worry about any garage flooring problems. Our apartment complex has ample parking space for all its tenants and visitors. If we need to, we can also pull up our car near our door if we have some heavy stuff to tow inside our place.
There are some advantage when living in an apartment. Up until we can have our own house, I will enjoy the advantages that an apartment living can offer. Living in an apartment may mean limited space but hey I have a roof over my head that protects me from the cold weather, we have food in the table, and I have a great family.... Life is Good!

A Miracle (Haiti Quake Survivors)
The whole world was saddened of what happened to Haiti after being hit with a very strong quake. People around the world extended their help in one way or another. In fact, the text donation for Haiti victims has the biggest turn out. Many countries send their help for rescue. There are couple of naval vessel that sailed to Haiti to offer medical help. Despite all the help, food aid in Haiti is still in shortage. Haiti is still in need of aid.
It has been over 10 days since the fatal quake happened but the rescuers didn't give up. Cases of trapped survivors holding out for a week after an earthquake are considered extraordinary, while surviving beyond 10 days is extremely rare.
There is miracle!

There is miracle!
- A 16-year-old Darlene Etienne was dragged from the wreckage of Haiti's quake after 15 days buried alive.
- US troops on Tuesday rescued a 31-year-old man, although he may have been buried by a building that collapsed after the earthquake. The troops said he had been trapped for 12 days.
- On Saturday, search teams pulled a 25-year-old man out alive after 11 days under the rubble. He had been trapped in a grocer's shop and was able to grab a small amount of food and drink to keep himself alive.

Cleaning the Kitchen
It is important to maintain the cleanliness of a kitchen. The kitchen is where you prepare food so it is necessary that it is clean at all times. Maintaining a clean kitchen is a never ending task because a kitchen always gets messy.
When you cook, there is always a mess to clean up. When cooking it can't be avoided that there will be splatters in the stove and somewhere near the stove. It is a big advantage if your kitchen is made of metal tiles because it is easier to clean.
I am not the best when it comes to cleaning but I try my best. I just wish that our kitchen is made of metal tiles. Maybe when we have our own house, I can have a metal tiles kitchen.

A Reminder...
Car insurance is very important. There should be a budget allocated for this. I know that times are hard these days but a car insurance is a necessity. This will be our savior in times of accidents. It will be very burdensome if we have to shoulder medical expenses and other car expenses should there be an accident. There are many car insurance companies that you can compare prices with their insurance premiums. I myself, is shopping for lower premium rates. There is nothing wrong with finding the best insurance that can offer a lower premium.
As long as I have car insurance, I know that I am protected!

Shopping in Pajamas
Wearing pajamas while shopping has become common. I have seen some that even goes to the store barefoot. I often believe of having the freedom to wear whatever you please but I also believe that it is a personal discretion to wear appropriate outfit depending on where you are going.
For me, going to the store barefoot is really tacky. I can understand those that wear pajamas... the kind that doesn't look like pajamas. If I see someone shopping wearing a pajama like in the pic below, I think I will disapprove too....

Anyway, shoppers in pyjamas and bare feet are no longer welcome at Tesco supermarket in Wales where customer complaints have prompted the introduction of a strict dress code. Signs announcing the no-PJs rule now grace the entrance to the sprawling Tesco's outlet in St Mellons, a suburb of the Welsh capital Cardiff.

Souvenir Shirt
Dave's office mate and his family went for a vacation to Florida last year. They stayed in one of the best destin florida hotels. They had a great time especially the kids. Well, who wouldn't enjoy a tropical vacation and the beach? I really admire their family because they always take time out from work and take their kids for a vacation. This year, they will be going to "The Smoky Mountains" in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
I wonder if they will bring me a souvenir shirt from Gatlinburg since they brought me one from Destin, Florida.

Equestrians

I always admire equestrians. I also think that this is a very expensive hobby. There are few famous equestrians in the Philippines that I know like Mickey Cojuanco Jaworski and Toni Leviste. They are both famous in their chosen field and yes they are both rich! Engaging in this hobby is no joke because you have to have money to buy a pure breed horse and maintaining those horses are also very expensive.
I admit, when I see the equestrians wearing their riding apparel which consists of breeches, boots, gloves, and more I find them very smart looking. And when they start riding their horses, for me they look like they are flying with the wind.

Yay.... Online Shopping....
I am stressed... so, I shop! I am just kidding! I am not really stressed, I just found a good deal that is why I can't resist my being a shopaholic and can't stop being a bargain hunter.
I already shopped in this online store so I know the quality of their products. When I saw a very nice bargain for their boots, I grabbed the opportunity. I shopped with my friend that way we can also avail of the free shipping.
Here's my find....

4 Hours ....
I am really grrr because while visiting some blogs today, there was one blog that I have visited that it automatically redirected me to some porn sites! I was so devastated because my computer got infected with a virus that my anti-virus can't stop nor treat. It made my computer not to function properly as the virus thing will pop out at all times.
I didn't have a choice but have to reformat my computer. As much as I hate to do it, it left me no choice. I did the disc recovery thingy and it took me 4 hours to do everything from recovery to downloading all the necessary drivers that I need.
It is a tedious job but I did it... but still I can't believe it took me 4 hours! Thankfully, we have another laptop that I can use, so I still was able to do some online tasks that I need to do.

Do You Believe in Life Insurance?
Life insurance is a subject that is taboo to most people in rural areas of the Philippines. Well, you can't blame them when their main goal is to provide food for the family. They don't look at the future, they just live life one day at a time.
I am fortunate that I am very knowledgeable when it comes to life insurance. I used to work in an insurance company for a couple of years. All those time, I learned the ins and outs of insurance. I learned how life insurance saves the family from the burden of mounting expenses when their loved one dies. I also learned that the cash value of life insurance can be a life saver in times of need.
Life insurance is very important, you should believe that!

Salt Intake
Salt, which contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease, is widely overused in the United States, with 75 to 80 percent coming from processed food. Men typically consume 10.4 grams per day. For women, the average is 7.3 grams. Its use is rising.I remember when I was just new here in the USA, I can hardly eat American food. For me the taste of most American foods are all extreme. It is either too salty or too sweet for my taste. I do believe that Americans use a lot of salt in preparing their foods.
Obviously, too much salt intake is not good for the health. Researchers in New England Journal of medicine reported that a reduction of 1 gram would prevent 11,000 to 23,000 strokes, 18,000 to 35,000 heart attacks and 15,000 to 32,000 deaths from any cause. Now is this not a good reason enough to lower your salt intake?
Lower salt intake may reduce the risk of stomach cancer, kidney disease, congestive heart failure and osteoporosis. Time to check your salt intake.... how much salt do you use?

Filtered Water
I can't drink water from the sink. I know that the water running in my faucet is safe to drink but I just can't. I can't stand the taste of chlorine (or fluorine?) in it. Even when I was in the Philippines, I always drink bottled water or we commonly called it mineral water.
I think that as long as the water is filtered, I can drink it. I am just funny about the taste of chlorine. Speaking of which, I have to remind my hubby to buy a new Refrigerator water filter. I am sure that it is almost time to change filter. I am glad that our water filter has warning light which lights up if it needs changing.

Bathroom Freak
I am a bathroom freak. I love a cozy bathroom but who doesn't anyway? When I am stressed I like to have a relaxing bath with a wonderful scent of a bath soap and some lighted scented candles around me.
When we were hunting for apartments, I always make sure that the bathroom is above standard style. I like to take my time when I am in the bathroom that is why it is important to me that the bathroom is a place where I can be comfortable.
We ended up in an apartment with an average bathroom size. It is not the best but for the price we are paying for our monthly rent, I can't complain. It is not as big as I would love to have but it has Danze faucets and it has Danze shower accessories which are really pleasing to my eyes.

Movie Rental Business

There already are plenty of places to rent movies that can be downloaded or streamed over high-speed Internet connections. The major vendors include Apple Inc.'s iTunes store, Amazon.com Inc., Netflix Inc. and Blockbuster Inc.
You Tube is getting into movie rental business too! The internet's most popular video channel expands into movie rentals to seek more revenue. The first five films available to rent through YouTube will cost $3.99 for a 48-hour viewing period. Movie studios will be able to set their own prices, with rental viewing windows ranging from one to 90 days. YouTube will get an unspecified commission from each rental.

Sisters' Talk
I have grown closer to my sister through phone calls. She lives in New Jersey so seeing her and her husband in person is not feasible at all times. We do see them once a year. But for the rest of the time, we just communicate through phonecalls. We always talk for long hours. It is funny to think how we never run out of topic to talk about.
We talk about anything and everything. We discuss things from the past, plans of the future and our present situations. We always talk of how life was when we were kids and how fortunate we are with our husbands and our lives now.
Would you believe that we even talk about football and different sports. Well, we never knew what football was until we migrated here in the USA. It is amazing how quickly we adapted to an American life.
Anyway, when I talked to my sister yesterday we were discussing about bills and how things are getting expensive now. She was complaining to me how high their home insurance is. I advise her to look for another insurance company. She can always compare home insurance quote and find a cheaper one with all the necessary specifications for the insurance coverage.

My Love Affair with Blogging
When I moved here in the USA, things are different. I was stuck in the house most of the time while hubby is working. I can't work because I need to be a legal resident for me to legally work. Things were a complete turn around from what my life was. I used to work more than 10 hours a day and almost 7 days a week. I worked since I was 18 so I never was a domesticated kind of woman.
When I moved here and got married (to a wonderful hubby by the way!), I learned to be homebody and I learned to be domesticated. I had to adjust to my life. Without being occupied with work, I have to find something that will occupy my mind and that's when I found out about blogging.
I feel in love with blogging because it was my way of expressing and sharing my life. It was a good avenue for me to make my mind active. I was just glad that we have two netbooks at home so I can use mine anytime I want. I can blog anytime some idea pops up on my mind.
Blogging has been fun. I meet friends online and yes I earn from it too. So, why don't you try blogging?

REHAB for the Rich and Famous

Rich and famous doesn't just go to ordinary rehab for help. They go to posh rehab. They go to Cirque Lodge which sits in Utah's Wasatch Range. A stay in the lodge, which has room for just 16 guests. This place is very costly for us who doesn't have the money but for the rich and famous this is nothing. Well, for a day, it only costs $1,595 with a 30-day minimum. (Let's do the math... it is $47,850! minimum whewww!)
Cirque has a private helicopter that takes recovering addicts on inspirational tours of mountain scenery. Seventy percent (70%) of their clientele are alcoholics. The recent residents of this posh rehab are people battling for dependence on prescription painkillers.

Evaluating and Looking at the Future
Life is very uncertain. We will never know what will happen tomorrow. Having a family and a child especially it is very important to look for the future and evaluate what is needed to have a secure future just in case something happens.
Hubby and I always discussed what is need to be done. We both have life insurance already but we feel that it is not enough that is why we are looking for insurance quotes. We plan to buy more insurance coverage for us. As I said, life is uncertain and we want Andrea's future to be certain just in case we won't be there physically.

Mesothelioma
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious health conditions, including lung cancer, asbestosis and malignant mesothelioma. These conditions can be life-threatening as they are usually diagnosed in the advanced stages of development. Symptoms of these lethal condition may not appear until 20 - 50 years or longer after exposure to asbestos, thus when you are diagnosed it is already in the advance stage. Often, the disease is too advanced for surgery.
For people what is a malignant Mesothelioma? Malignant mesothelioma is an uncommon cancerous tumor of the lining of the lung and chest cavity (pleura) or lining of the abdomen (peritoneum) that is typically due to long-term asbestos exposure. There is no cure for mesothelioma. Untreated, the average malignant mesothelioma patient survives 9 months. It is a difficult cancer to treat.

Nicholas Cage to pay $14M to IRS
I am a fan of Nicholas Cage. I love his "old" movies. But his recent movies are not very impressive to me. I have known that Nicholas Cage has troubles with his back taxes and he owed millions actually. Sometimes, I can't imagine why would people with lots of money owes money to IRS. They all know for sure that IRS will gonna get them.
Nicolas Cage is determined to get his financial house in order and to pay the IRS all that he owes in back taxes.
Anyway, in the recent settlement between the IRS and Nicholas Cage, Cage will pay IRS $14 million in owed back taxes. Cage said that in the course of his career, he's paid more than $70 million in taxes.
The government recently placed a tax lien on his real-estate holdings, including an additional $6.7 million from 2008. Cage said that he is under new business management and he also said that he is current for 2009 taxes, all taxes will be paid including any to be determined state taxes.
I hope that Cage will surpass this problem and I hope that they can all solve this tax problems.

Gift List
Gift List is very common in any chain of stores. When people get married they will register for bridal registry where they can choose for their gift list.
When a couple is expecting a baby... you can also choose to have a baby gift list....
Do you know what is the newest in this gift list thing? It is Divorce gift list! At first, it sounded weird to me but, divorce gift list is a good idea to help those that just got divorce. A divorce means that one partner will be leaving the marital home and therefore be left without any essentials in their new house that is why he/she can have a divorce gift list.
The divorce gift list is for those wishing to help a loved one with the pain. I think this idea makes divorce very modern!

Planned Summer Trip
This summer we planned to visit my sister-in-law who lives in St. Petersburgh, Florida. I haven't been to Florida so this will be very interesting for me. This will also be Andrea's longest trip by car, I hope she won't be really fussy while on the road.
Dave and I were discussing about checking Disney vacations since we will be in Florida anyway. It will be perfect to visit Orlando theme parks because I am sure that Andrea will have a blast!
I really couldn't wait to have a first road trip to Florida. I am sure that Terri (my sister-in-law) will be so excited about our plans.

Soaring High Electric Bill

I received my monthly electric bill few days ago and I was hesitant to open it because I know that it will be high. Due to cold weather, I expected that our electricity bill will be high. True enough, when I opened our bill, it was shockingly high. Our electricity consumption was almost doubled. I can't complain though because we need to be warm at all times and that means using our heater 24/7!
I am sure I am not the only one who has a soaring high electric bill. The freezing temperatures have caused customers of Alabama Power Co. to set a new record for electrical usage during the wintertime. This means that the increase of electric bill is a very common scenario in the whole Alabama populace.

Sick Today...
I woke up with a troubling stomachache today. I feel like throwing up yet I can't. I have to take some acid reducer medicine. It helped a bit and then I started going to the bathroom for so many times that I feel like I have to just bring my laptop and stay in the bathroom forever ( just kidding!).
Seriously, I feel terrible. I realized that I have been sickly lately. Perhaps because I don't eat healthy that is why I gained weight and I am prone to getting sick. I need to follow a quick weight loss program and get back to my healthy self.

Health is Wealth
Health is wealth. There is nothing more important than to keep ourselves healthy because medical care is really expensive. When it comes to health, it is important to prevent ourselves from getting sick. I always believe that prevention is better than cure.
I am just glad that our medical insurance is great. If not for our medical insurance, I don't know how deep will I be in debt because of the medical cost that we had when Andrea was in the NICU.
Anyway, for those who needs Medicare supplement insurance, you need to check out goMedigap for an online quote. Their associates will explain to you how supplement insurance works.

What's Keeping Us Up?

We are addicted to the show in TNT ... Numb3rs. It is shown at 3:00am - 4:00am and the second episode is at 4:00am - 5:00am.
Can you imagine that? We are still up even though it is almost morning because of this show. Most of the times we just watch one episode because 5:00 am is sometimes too late.
We love this show (obviously)!
The show focuses equally on the relationships between Don Eppes, his brother Charlie Eppes and their father, Alan Eppes (Judd Hirsch), and on the brothers' efforts to fight crime, normally in Los Angeles. A typical episode begins with a crime, which is subsequently investigated by a team of FBI agents led by Don and mathematically described by Charlie, with the help of Larry Fleinhardt (Peter MacNicol) and Amita Ramanujan (Navi Rawat). The insights provided by Charlie's mathematics are always in some way crucial to solving the crime.

Strong Quake HIT Tahiti
A powerful earthquake struck Haiti's capital on Tuesday with withering force, toppling everything from simple shacks to the ornate National Palace and the headquarters of U.N. peacekeepers. The dead and injured lay in the streets even as strong aftershocks rippled through the impoverished Caribbean country.
The Haiti quake is the largest to hit this Caribbean Country in 200 years. The quake was felt in the Dominican Republic, which shares a border with Haiti on the island of Hispaniola, and some panicked residents in the capital of Santo Domingo fled from their shaking homes. New Year's Resolutions
I was reading and visiting different blogs during the first week of 2010 when I see some blog entries about New Year's Resolutions. Obviously, most people of all walks of life has its own New Year's Resolution. I conclude that the most common resolution is to loss weight. The second most common is the "save more spend less" idea.
For me, on top of my list for this year is to save more. I am really serious in hoping to save that way we can have a nice vacation to the Philippines in the next few years. Vacationing to the Philippines will be expensive for the whole family because there will be three of us to pay the airfare. Hopefully, I can manage to save enough so that we can have a luxurious vacation.
Although I need to loss weight myself, losing weight is not on top of my New Year's Resolution. For those who make losing weight their number one New year's resolution, all I can tell them is perhaps they need to look for slimming pills that will work. Combined with diet and exercise, I am sure that slimming pills will help you attain the weight you desire.

Weight Struggle
I admit, I am one of those people who is struggling to loss weight. Since I got pregnant and I gave birth to my daughter, I have gained more weight than I can imagine. I didn't picture myself weighing this much. I keep on reminding myself to loss some extra pounds. I know I wouldn't be able to get back to what I used to weigh when I was single. Going back to size 0 is impossible but losing a few pounds here and there will be possible especially with the help of fat burner. I know that using this will help in my weight struggle.

Donate Blood and Get FREE Beer

So, you want a free beer huh? Well, a Washington bloodmobile offers beer to blood donors. For a pint of blood that a person donates, he will get a free pint of beer. Blood donors who are at least 21 years old are given a coupon for a free pint of beer. The free pint of beer can only be collected, four hours after the blood drive ends.
This drive is somewhat funny but the Director of Cascade Regional Blood Services said that the "give blood, get free beer" drive has attracted more blood donors.
Wheewww.... what a way to get a free beer!

Shielding Devices
Have you ever wonder why sometimes there are disturbances in the reception of the AM radio, FM Radio, Cellphones and Television reception? I believe that this is because of the electromagnetic interference that affects an electrical circuit.
As technology advances, these electromagnetic interference can be minimized by using shielding devices. The use of emi shielding, a product of American Emi Solutions is one of the answers to this problem. So, if you are experiencing radio jamming or some sort of electronic warfare, try checking out EMI shielding devices.

Gasoline-Electric Hybrid Vehicle
The Toyota Prius is the first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle. In Japan, it tops the annual sales, with buyers willing to wait six months for deliveries of the curvaceous "green" car. Customers want to embrace green auto technology that appears to go beyond a simple moneysaving response to the ups and downs of gasoline prices. This is the reason why the Toyota Prius becomes a well sought after car.
This electric hybrid vehicle caught on in the U.S. and other parts of the world as well, although not with quite the same passionate intensity as it has in Japan, Toyota Motor Corp.'s home market.
The new Prius gets a combined 50 miles per gallon, compared with 46 mpg for the 2009 model, according to Toyota. It does even better under Japanese government testing standards, at 38 kilometers per liter, which converts to 90 miles per gallon.
Wanna go green? This Gasoline-electric Hybrid Car is for you....

Car
The type of car somebody drives for me shows your financial status. People who drives an expensive car means they can afford it. Expensive cars have high maintenance. If you are driving a Ferrari that means you can afford its high maintenance. Ferrari parts are also pricey and I am sure I can't afford this type of car. Well, our car is a Ford Escort and we are happy with it. It does not require a lot of maintenance and it fit for us perfectly.

BAMA Championship Gear
Bama won the 2010 BCS National Championship. Indeed they have a great season. They were undefeated, Ingram won the Heisman Trophy. I am not a Bama fan but the team deserves a congratulations. They work hard and they deserve to win.
Anyway, BAMA fans flocked to the store to get their Championship gear.... T-shirts, cap, mugs and more....

Moving can be Stressful
In this thriving economy that we are facing, there are many families that has no other option but to move to a different state where there is job. I have known some that were forced to move because the available job is in a certain area.
Moving is very stressful because it means adjusting to a new place. Besides the adjustment, moving your stuff can also cause some alarm because of fear that it might be damaged in the process of moving. A professional long distance movers can help lessen your stress, so contact them before you plan to move your stuff.

Layering Clothes
Since the holidays, it has been cold here. The temperature and the wind makes you hate to go out and do something outside the house. But with proper clothing, anybody can still enjoy outdoor activities despite the cold weather.
Layering clothes can serve two purposes, which are keeping warm or looking good. A short, tight tank with a flannel shirt over the top doesn’t fall into the layering for fashion category; it’s a method of layering for warmth. I admit, I become good at layering clothes especially when it comes to Andrea. I always make sure that she is warm when we go out during this cold winter days.
The best types of clothing to use for layering are scarves, vests, leggings, sweaters, unbuttoned blouses, short dresses, short tops and long tops. A tank top, flimsy dress, open sweater and matching leggings is a fundamental layered look. Go out with style during this winter days. We still can be fashionable even if it is cold.

North Carolina Vacation
I have never been to North Carolina and I want to go for a vacation there. Perhaps this year we can have a local vacation since our plan for a Philippine trip will be in the next two years. I told my husband that I wanted to explore different states so North Carolina is a good destination since it is not very far from where we are.
I am checking out Outer Banks vacation rentals. I think that if we will be frugal on our spending habits, we can save enough money to spend for a North Carolina vacation. I hope that we can go for a vacation this year.
Now, time to tighten the belt that way we can have a family vacation!

My Husband's Office
We were at my husband's office few nights ago while waiting for him to clock out from work. We need to do some grocery shopping after his work. We waited for him inside the office because it was really cold outside so we decided to wait inside. We were in their break room when I noticed that they changed their office furniture. They now have new and bigger swivel chairs on their cubicles and their conference room has new table and chairs. Perhaps they are preparing for a busier business this year.

Anti-Piracy Training for Filipino Sailors
There will be a mandatory anti-piracy training for Filipino seafarers. Personally, I think this is a wonderful idea because of the rampant ship high-jacking that is happening especially in Gulf of Aden, one of the world's busiest sea lanes.
I am glad that this anti-piracy training is mandatory for all Filipino sailors before they can board the ship because I am sure that it will help them deal with the situation should they experience hi-jacking.
For more on this please read here.
