Most Expensive Coffee

A cup of coffee for $50 or a pound of coffee for $300 or more! Not in a million years will I be able to afford this most expensive coffee! Let's discover what is this most expensive coffee....

Kopi Luwak Coffee, also known as Civet Coffee, is considered by many coffee connoisseurs to be the best tasting coffee in the world. It is also the rarest and most expensive coffee due to its, let’s say, unique development process.

The journey of the world’s most unique coffee begins in the temperate climates of Indonesia. Several of its major islands - Sumatra, Java, Bali and Sulawesi – play host to the Kopi Luwak industry along with growing industries in the Philippines, East Timor and Vietnam where the product is called “Weasel Coffee.”

To create Kopi Luwak, an Asian Palm Civet eats a coffee berry, and something very strange and wonderful (and utterly natural) happens. The coffee bean passes through the animal’s digestive tract, making it out to the other side unharmed but irreconcilably changed for the better.

Farewell Kuya Shem

Last night we had a send off party for a friend Kuya Shem. It was fun. Most of our friends were there to wish him well in his new journey. We made it a happy send off party, after all, we should be happy and thankful for the memories that we shared.

Farewell Kuya Shem. Good luck on your journey. As we all say... "See you in Facebook!"

It's my MOTHER's Birthday!

Today is a special day for my dear Nanang. Today she celebrates her birthday and today I wish I am with her to give her a hug, a kiss, and a personal thank you.

Today, I want to thank my Mom for always being there not just for me but the whole family. She has always been our rock. I want to thank her for her endless prayers and for not giving up on faith. She imparted with us hope and faith. Despite everything that we went through as family, Mom is always there to keep the family together and for that we will always be thankful.

Nang.... Thank you for everything we shared, the dreams, the laughter, and the tears. I love you with a "Special Love" that deepens every year. I wish I could spend this day with you. I hope you know that in spirit I am there with you.

Dave, Andrea and I loves you. Happy Birthday!

House with a Pond

On the way to where my mother-in-law lives, we can pass by few houses with private ponds. I always dream of having a house of our own with a small pond. I love fishing so having your own pond will be very nice advantage.

Whenever I see a house with a pond, I always think of someday having one. I know it will be a lot of work but the work will be less physical if we have pond pumps. Pond pumps is very vital in the filtration of the pond. The size of the pump will affect the cleanliness of the pond. When I will have our own house with a pond, I will make sure that we will have a pump that will fit the size of the pond so that it will support the filtration of the pond.

Everything is BIG in USA

I remember the first time I visited my father in law. The two plasma tvs that they have was the first thing that caught my attention. I was mesmerize. I am not exaggerating! I came from the place where a 21" inch tv is considered big already. Seeing a 65" TV for the first time was a very astonishing experience for me. When we watched the TV that time, I was so amazed at how big the people in the screen, to me it seems like the people are life size.

My first few weeks in America was full of surprises. That was then that I realize that everything in America is big. The hamburgers are big and the drinks in the fast food chains are huge. The serving in the restaurants are all in big portions that I can only manage to eat less than half of it. Everything is big from fruits to veggies and all the toiletries are sold in big packages. Everything here was sold in big packages and from where I came from most things are sold in the smallest package that is available.

I am Beautiful (It's True!)

I knew it... I am beautiful! (Not conceited eh?) Seriously, this beautiful blogger award was given to me by some of my blogger friends... Mami Rose, Mami Kat, Silvergirl and all those who gave me, those which I already forgot (pasensya na ulyanin na) thanks a bunch. Anyway, I am modifying the rules as I don't know 15 bloggers who doesn't have this award yet.... Anybody who wants to grab this and who thinks you are beautiful... go ahead grab it and tell the blogosphere that you are beautiful!

7 things about myself
  1. I collect angels.... lots of them!
  2. I love to cook... visit my Mouth's Delight for proof
  3. I am a movie buff .... we own hundreds of DVD's and we watched a movie almost every night.
  4. I am not sun-friendly... during summer I always get headache when I am exposed to the sun for more than an hour
  5. I am a certified blog addict... I compose entries even in my dreams. When I am laying down in the bed I think of a good entry before I go to sleep
  6. I am the family's favorite... a little bit spoiled too!
  7. I want to go back to school.... whenever that could be is a good question which only God knows!

I am a Frugal Shopper

When I shop, I need a lot of time. I compare prices, I look for sale items and I look for good deals. I also use coupons which I get from Sunday paper and different magazines. Believe me if there is a word SALE displayed in the store, expect that I will be there to check it out.

Some sale items are deceiving. There are items in the sale area which are not really on sale. My secret to making sure that the item is on sale is to scan the item first to make sure that the price is right. The barcode scanner that is displayed in different areas of the store comes in very handy for me. You know the place where they marked "Find Price Here", that is where you can find a barcode scanner that will tell you the price of an item. I always do it this way because I hate to argue with the cashier about the pricing.

Get Rid of Rodents

Rodents are well adapted to living with or in close proximity to humans. It is then a fact that they and their parasites share our homes. Rodents are carriers of different diseases. Scary huh? We may not realize it but rodents transmit deadly germs excreted in their urine and feces.

Getting rid of rodents can be a lot of work. Traditionally, most home owners get rid of rodents by setting a trap or using poison. Some would hire the services of treatment companies just to get rid of unwelcome rodents.

Lo and behold! There is now a new Riddex Digital Insect Repeller - an electromagnetic technology that will drive unwanted Rodents out of your home. There is no chemicals and toxic substances used in this product thus, it is a very humane way of getting rid of rodents.

Auto Insurance

When we first decided to change auto insurance carrier because I believe that we are paying a high premium, we checked first the different companies that offers discount. Part of the benefits that the company where my husband works are different discounts from different companies. When I learned of this program, I then looked for companies that offer auto insurance discounts. I called a couple of them to get auto insurance quotes. With the employee discount that I used, I saved like $300 a year. Now, we are enjoying a hassle less car insurance because I opted to pay it through automatic payroll deduction.

Sunday @ the Park

It was a pretty day today! In fact the temperature was in the high 60s! It was a good day to get out and enjoy the beautiful day.

We went to Moody park to enjoy the good weather. We let Andrea play. It was so good to see her run around and make some friends. She was really enjoying it and I am so glad that she made friends. She ran around and play the slides without hesitation. Up until now though, she doesn't like the swing.

It was so cute to see her making friends. There are no kids her age that she can befriend except for Alex, Matthew and some other older kids (kids of all my filipina friends).

As expected, she cried when we went home. We didn't stay too long because it was about to rain. We caught a few raindrops and we don't want for the rain to catch us while in the park.

It was a good day!

Fastest Thumb in the West

I used to text a lot when I was in the Philippines. Texting was a cheaper way of getting in touch. When I moved here in the USA, calling friends are easier than texting. In fact, I find it hard to text now.

When it comes to texting, Kate Moore, a lively 16-year-old high school sophomore from Des Moines, Iowa is the USA's fastest hand. She represented America in the World Texting Championship and won the second prize. She and her team mate were second to team Korea.

Moore's messaging habit has won her $60,000 in prize money -- not to mention fame both at home and abroad -- in less than a year. She will be defending her title at the 2010 US championship.

Getting Ready for Spring Fashion

As much as I love winter, I always welcome spring with a warm heart because spring is the perfect weather for me. It is not very cold nor very hot. Most importantly, this is the time that I can show off what I've got and wear sexy yet comfortable outfits. I always look forward to what is in and what is the latest fashion trends for Spring.

During winter, I still can be fashionable but the fashion is different. Spring fashion is very vibrant and I am loving it. In few months, it will be spring but as early as this time, I am already keeping my eye on those new lines of dresses for 2010. I am loving the 2010 Spring/Summer Collection by Giorgio Armani. These designer fashions are just too hot to resist! His designs are specifically made to empower today’s modern woman with its contemporary yet classic cut and construction. The styles of the dress which are above the knee are so perfect for me because I prefer wearing knee length clothes because it will show off my beautifully formed legs.

Giorgio Armani's fashion is timeless. I like the way he makes sure that the dresses he made emphasizes the three-dimensional form of the female body. With all these gorgeous creations, I am now ready to show them off enjoy and a great vacation in one of the luxury resorts that I am dreaming to visit.

Red Mitten Craze

Have you watched the Winter Olympics? If you do, then you are familiar with the red mittens that are shown in TV. They're the bright red Olympic mittens, and it seems like everybody wants them. Whenever anybody waves to the camera, they're impossible to miss.

Everybody wants to own this olympic mitten that the manufacturer can no longer supply. There is so much demand that it is almost impossible to find them and the price (which was originally $10) has soared high up to doubled or more... sound's crazy huh? Well, you can't blame people for buying this "must have olympic accessory". The fact that celebrities like Cindy Crawford and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden have been seen sporting the mittens has only added to their appeal.

Ash Wednesday

What sticks to my mind when Ash Wednesday comes are the words that our priest would say upon making a sign of cross on the forehead " Sa abo ka gikan sa abo usab ikaw pauli" which means "Remember (O man) that you are dust, and to dust you shall return". This is the common phrase that the priest would use during Ash Wednesday. Although there are other prayer phrases that can be used like "Repent, and believe the Gospel," or "Turn away from sin, and be faithful to the Gospel." I hear the first phrase more often.

Ash Wednesday signifies the start of Lent. Lenten season is a very important season to Catholics. Ash Wednesday is observed by fasting, abstinence from meat, and repentance—a day of contemplating one's transgressions.

On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, Roman Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are permitted to consume only one full meal, which may be supplemented by two smaller meals, which together should not equal the full meal. Some Roman Catholics will go beyond the minimum obligations demanded by the Church and undertake a complete fast or a bread and water fast. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are also days of abstinence from meat (for those Catholics age 14 and over), as are all Fridays in Lent. Some Roman Catholics continue fasting during the whole of Lent, as was the Church's traditional requirement, concluding only after the celebration of the Easter Vigil.

It's Lent season... oh how I will miss the religious activities in it and the stations of the cross tradition that we do...

Second Snow

We had our second snow last night. It just barely covered the ground. It was not enough for us to play. When I woke up around 7am this morning the snow started to melt. I wished we got more but hey I should be happy even though it barely covered the ground it was still snow....

Lo Mien

In American Chinese restaurants, lo mein is a popular take-out food. In this setting, Lo mein noodles are usually stirred with brown sauce (a sauce made from soy sauce, corn starch, sugar, and other seasoning), carrots, bok choy or cabbage, onions, and shrimp, roast pork, beef, or chicken. Lobster lo mein, vegetable lo mein, and "House" lo mein (more than one meat) are often available.

Our favorite chinese restaurant makes the best lo mien in our locality. I always order shrimp lo mien... tell me how can you resist this one?

Germ-Fighter Pillow

I have never given the pillow a thought about how it can be a source of all the germs anyone can imagine. After I viewed the video above it makes me think how awful it is for all the molds, bacteria and dust mites to be stored in the pillow. It may not be visible to our naked eye but the fact still remains that our pillow can be source of cold and flu germs as well as allergens that can trigger our allergy.

It is a good thing that the National Allergy developed a Healthy Dreams Germ-Fighter Pillow. This allergy pillow has a Micrenza Bio-Filter Strip that allows the pillow to breathe while preventing germs and allergens from passing through. The allergy pillow has a water-proof barrier which is treated with Bioshield 75. The Bioshield 75 will prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, and yeast.

With the idea of breathing a clean moisture in our sleep, I don't think there is a reason why anybody would not purchase a germ-fighter pillow.

Fun in the Snow

As I posted earlier, we are really happy that it was snowing. After a couple of hours the snow has accumulated in the ground so we dressed ourselves and went outside to play with the snow. Surprisingly there were no other kids around. I thought that kids will all be outside playing. Needless to say, we had the whole ground for ourselves. Just me and Andrea.

Before we went out to play in the snow, we let Andrea watched Dora and the Snow Princess that way she will have an idea about the snow. Andrea had so much fun with the snow. She cried when we brought her inside. We have to bring her in because her nose is already red.

Here's some of the pics....

Is Alli Safe?

Alli is a product that you can see over the counter in the aisle of the store where you can see all the over the counter medicines. I noticed this product because it has a security seal on it. I got curious so I picked it up and started reading about it.

While reading, I found out that it is one of those diet pills thing. They claimed that Alli is an over the counter form of the prescription fat blocker Xenical. They are actually approved by FDA. Taking Alli will lower cholesterol and risk of type 2 Diabetes but its side effect like severe diarrhea is just too much for me.

So, Is Alli safe? It is for you to find out or you can visit www.allireviews.com to learn more about it.

Flush the Toxins Away

I like the idea of quick trim burn and cleanse because it is said that this product will flush away the pounds of toxins. While flushing away the toxins it also burns the fats at the same time. I know that there are many ways and many products for losing weight but what is effective for a certain individual differs. A certain product can be effective for you but not for another person.

Losing weight as always is a struggle. It needs a lot of determination to be successful in order to reach your desired weight goal.

How did you manage to lose weight despite all the obstacles? I will appreciate some suggestions....

Yay... It's Snowing

As of the moment, the snow is falling down! We are all excited. We hope that the weather forecast is correct. The forecast said that we can have 3-5 inches of snow. For us, that is a lot.

As the east coast are experiencing couple of snow storms, we in Alabama was not affected at all. We have our cold weathers but no snow, that is why this time we are happy that it is snowing. I really wish it will snow some more. I will wait and see....

Belly Fat

Gone were the days when I can show off my sexy body with flat abs. When I was single, I used to dress sexy. I love dressing up in shorts and in tight hugging tops that shows off my curves. I was size 0 then.

After getting pregnant, I gained a lot of weight and I haven't been back to my old shape. I really don't mind gaining some weight I just wish I know a very effective method on how to reduce belly fat. If only I can reduce my belly fats, I will be more confident to wear something sexy, something that won't show the bulge of my stomach.

I keep on thinking of losing weight, but I am still into the thinking and planning stage. When will I do the action is a question that's worth a million...

Hair Loss

I loss hair more than a normal person do. It is somewhat funny because hubby always tells me, "you shed like a dog". Whenever we clean our carpet you can really notice hairs and it is mostly mine because my black hair is very noticeable in our light colored carpet.

I am really not concerned about my hair loss until I see myself losing a lot of hair. It looks like my 2 year old daughter has more hair than I have. I think I really have to find solution on how to prevent hair loss. I surely don't want to be bald at my "young" age.

Wedding Anniversary

Today my near parents (Nanang and Tatay) are celebrating their 48 years of marriage! Yes 48 years of blissful married life. I am a witness to their union. It was not an easy road for them. They have their shares of fights and bantering. I have seen them argue. I have heard them argue at dawn time. That is when they talked about things. They always talk at dawn until dawn. I remember that sometimes, we tell them to lower their voices because we are still sleeping... hahaha

Nanang and Tatay's marriage is full of struggles especially raising us 9 kids but they never gave up. They may not have all the money in the world to give their kids but they raised us very well. I am proud of them for what they did just to raise us educated, respectful, family oriented and religious.

Whatever we are now is because of them.

I saw how my Nanang is as a mother and wife. I just wish that I can be like half of what she is!

I love you both and happy wedding anniversary...

I hope and pray that God will grant them more years of togetherness... I hope in 2 years we will all be together to celebrate with them on their Golden Wedding Anniversary!

Snow Storm Saturday

Many states are bombarded by snow storm today. When I called my sister in NJ, she told me that they have 24 inches of snow! Wheewww and brrrr!

Mid-Atlantic experienced the biggest winter storm in nearly 90 years. The snowstorm walloped the Mid-Atlantic states, dumping up to 33 inches of snow that shut down the nation's capital, left thousands of people without power and caused flight cancellations nationwide.

In Washington, D.C., up to 33 inches had fallen in some areas. I know that it is hard to be hit with snowstorm but I just wish that it will snow here. With all the snow that some states are experiencing, Alabama had only few snowflakes. I even joked with my sister that if she has 24 inches of snow, I have two snowflakes!

I don't want a blizzard or snow storm... I just want some snow!

Camel Burger

Okay... I love burger! I eat fish burger, chicken burger, beef burger but camel burger? I think I have to really think about that.

Camel burger is the newest healthy option on Dubai menu. It is said that burger patties made of camel were fat- and cholesterol-free but a good question will be how did they ever tenderize a camel meat?

Camel meat is widely eaten in Arab countries but it is not commonly served in restaurants but Camel burger has gained its popularity because it becomes a hit to tourists and locals alike. A camel burger costs 20 UAE dirhams ($5.45).

Do you think you will ever eat a camel burger???? Maybe if they will not tell me that it is a camel!

Movie Kiosks

We are movie addicts. We watched movies almost every night. If we can't find good movie to rent we pull out a movie from our many dvds to watch. Although we have seen these movies, the second or third time seems to get better.

We stopped renting DVDs in Blockbuster because it cost's us $5 for two days.

For a couple of months now, we rent movies at the redbox. I love this kiosk because you can rent a movie for $1 a night and you can return it anywhere you want. It is very accessible also because you can check at their website and it will tell you what movies are available in a certain area. For the price of $1 a night it is worth it. We encountered bad dvd once but when we reported it online we were given coupon code as refund of the copy that we had. It was very nice of their customer service to do it.

Recently, I saw a blockbuster movie kiosk and I was amazed because they also just charge $1 a day for it. So far, I have only seen one kiosk. As far as I know you have to return the DVD in the kiosk where you got it (correct me if I am wrong please.)

At the moment I will still continue using redbox because of its convenience to us.
